On 31 May, Moscow will host large-scale sports events: Moscow Sports Day at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex and Moscow Sports Night, which will cover venues in the city centre. Visitors will be able to meet star athletes and enjoy their demonstrations, take part in various competitions, try themselves in new disciplines, and attend a concert of famous artists, including Garik Sukachev, the bands Lyube and Chaif, and Xolidayboy. The event is organised by the Department of Sports of Moscow.
More than 20 themed zones will appear on the territory of Luzhniki. After the end of the Moscow Sports Day in the Olympic complex, the celebration will continue on the streets of the capital. The Moscow Sports Night will cover 15 locations in the central part of the city.
The Moscow Sports Day will include competitions, masterclasses and open classes in parkour, breakdancing, vorkout and weightlifting. On a separate platform, festival guests will have the opportunity to play live chess or test their skills in a session of simultaneous play on 80 boards with four grandmasters, one of whom will be world champion in rapid chess and blitz Sergey Karjakin. In special zones, those wishing to participate will be able to pass an obstacle course, shoot archery or join mass training sessions in saikling and table tennis. In addition, tents of Moscow football clubs with trophy exhibitions, autograph sessions with veteran players and game activities will open in Luzhniki.
In addition, the main stage will host a concert with participation of famous artists: Garik Sukachev, the bands ‘Lyube’, ‘Chaif’, ‘The End of the Film’, ‘Underwood’, ‘7B’, Xolidayboy and Sergey Bobunts. The music programme will start at 13:30.
A separate play zone will be available for children, where young guests of the Moscow Sports Day will be able to attend gymnastics masterclasses, ride treadmills, play paintball, take part in races on mini-jeeps or radio-controlled cars, and try themselves as operators of a children's excavator.
Visitors to Moscow Sports Night will be able to participate in sports activities at venues located in the very centre of Moscow. On Pushkinskaya Square there will be a cycling zone, where mass workouts with musical accompaniment from DJs will take place, on Kudrinskaya Square it will be possible to try fitness jumping or pass an obstacle course. Streetball competitions and master classes will be held on Tverskaya Street (Izvestia Square).
The break-dance zone, where professional battles, master classes and competitions will take place, will be located in Kaloshin Lane. A beatboxing area will also open on Old Arbat.
Activities for guests will be free of charge. Pre-registration may be required to participate in some events. Moscow Sports Day will take place from 11:00 to 20:00, and Moscow Sports Night - from 20:00 to 23:00.
