This building is currently under reconstruction.

A new Ice Palace will appear on the site of the “Kristall” training rink, which was closed due to an emergency more than 10 years ago. According to experts, the overhaul would have cost twice as much as new construction, so it was decided to demolish the building.

The Ice Palace “Kristall” will be a three-storey multifunctional sport complex, consisting of two independent ice arenas equipped with spectator stands and a fitness club.

At the moment facades are installing at the object, engineering systems, and indoor finishing work is underway.

Earlier, specialists completed the installation of metal roof structures with an area of 10.4 thousand square meters, which consumed about 1.2 thousand tons of metal structures, 8 thousand square meters of membrane and 2.4 thousand square meters of tiles.

Because of panoramic glazing, the building looks even larger.

To protect it from direct sunlight, the building facade will be decorated with perforated aluminium sheets and white slats. The complex will be intended for professional athletes training, amateur teams, as well as children's hockey schools.

Because of the convertible boards, the size of the hockey rinks can meet the standards of both the KHL and the NHL.

Two training ice arenas, size of each 61 x 30 m, will be equipped with spectator stands for 249 seats each.

For competitions, arenas will be equipped with video head systems and video screens for displaying replays and other content.

A 25-meter pool will be built in the fitness club area.

Also, a public ice hockey skating simulator (the only one in Russia so far) will be installed at fitness club - a throwing area and a track covered with artificial ice for analysing and developing skills such as skating, throwing and peripheral vision.
